Working Border Collie Clinic w/Adrian Espinoza

Two Day, Three Day or Four Day Clinic
May 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th 2019

Pirate Sheep Company is excited to host Adrin Espinoza for a 2 day, 3 day, or 4 day clinic on Thursday thru Sunday, May 9th thru May 12th. Adrian provides techniques and methods to help bring out the natural ability of your dog while getting them to think and feel the sheep with a level of self control. Adrian focuses on working with you to improve your ability to read and understand your dog and the stock. The result is a better relationship between the dog and the handler. Adrian will use each dog's work to instruct every clinic participant so you take home not only answers to your specific training issues, but an understanding of how you can better read the movements and behavior of your working dog. All levels are welcome.

The clinic begins at 8:00 am each morning and has limited working spaces. Each dog will have two, 30 minute, working slots per day. You will be able to not only gain experience from your session but also hear the instruction provided to others with our "real time" sound system. Lunch will be provided.

We will be working with North Country Cheviots. Those that have experienced dogs can also have the opportunity to work with the heavier Corriedales if they would like.

Signing up is easy by contacting us directly or through a message. Your registration check will be post dated to May 1st and cashed on May 8th. If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know. If you need accommodations, we do have some limited accommodations on our property and camper parking available . The Best Western in Monticello is dog friendly and very nice. I look forward to seeing all of you and your dogs.

Jack Knox Book Signing

Jack Knox Book Signing

The book store in Montello, WI is having Jack Knox do a book signing on his new book "LEARNING LIFE'S LESSONS WITH STOCKDOGS" on January 31st from 1:00 -3:00 pm.

In Jack Knox: Learning Life's Lessons with Stock Dogs famed herding dog trainer Jack Knox retraces his steps from learning to use Border Collies to tend sheep as a lad in the border region of Scotland to becoming one of the foremost characters in the stock dog world in America today. Jack's many notable accomplishments, like being inducted into the American Border Collie Association Hall of Fame, are overshadowed in this memoir...rather, it is his love for the dogs he has known and a genuine appreciation for what they have taught him in life that Jack humbly shares. Above all, Jack's unique approach to training herding dogs is revealed in this book--a special way with dogs seldom seen in practice that stresses freedom for a dog over the tight control tactics so frequently practiced with herding dogs today, especially the freedom for a dog to make mistakes and thereby learn to become a willing partner with a person when working stock. Join Jack as he journeys through a life with dogs that has brought him profound insights, great joy, and a distinctive approach to training that allows herding dogs to bloom to their best abilities.
